Sodexho Alliance incorporated in 1966, is a global provider of services in two primary business areas, Food and Management Services, and Service Vouchers and Cards. In the Food and Management Services business, the Company provides outsourced food and multiservices to businesses, public agencies and institutions, long-term and short-term healthcare facilities, universities and primary and secondary schools. Within the Food and Management Services business, Sodexho also provides many of the foregoing services to temporary and remote sites of its clients' operations, specifically those affiliated with oil and gas recovery, major construction projects and mining. The Service Vouchers and Cards business primarily issues and manages the provision of paper and debit-card vouchers to the Company's clients' employees for food, products and services, and the provision of various welfare benefits from government clients to their constituents. Food and Management Services The Company is a global food and management services contractor. During the fiscal year ended August 31, 2005 (fiscal 2005), the Company operated through approximately 26,700 individual outlets in more than 76 countries. The Food and Management Services business accounted for 98% of the Company' revenues for fiscal 2005. To serve its clients and increase revenues, Sodexho pursues a market segmentation strategy based on client needs. The industry markets in which it operates are Business and Industry (which includes both corporate clients and government entities), Healthcare, Education and Remote Sites. The Business and Industry market represented 45% of the Company's total Food and Management Services business revenues for fiscal 2005. Traditionally, this market has been comprised of corporate customers, which Sodexho provides with food services, as well as vending, reception, mailroom, cleaning and facilities maintenance. The Company has expanded the range and depth of its services and clients to include providing food and management services to government agencies and other public clients, such as the defense sectors in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. It provides food service at prestige occasions, which include prominent tourist, sports and recreational events, such as the Royal Ascot horse racesthe Paris-Bercy and Roland-Garros Tennis Tournaments. The Company also provides a range of executive dining services and the management of conference centers and private clubs for its corporate clients, as well as food service and custodial services, maintenance, transportation, professional training and rehabilitation services to correctional facilities in many locations outside of North America. In River and Harbor Cruises activity, the Company has selectively built an international presence as a boat operator in France, the United States and the United Kingdom, rendering the largest operator of river and harbor cruises in the world, based on annual revenues. For fiscal 2005, revenues in the Healthcare market represented 25% of the Company's total Food and Management Services business revenues. In this market, Sodexho provides catering services, vending, meal delivery, patient transport, room upkeep, cleaning, grounds keeping, laundry and maintenance services to hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, retirement and care centers around the world. In order to better address its clients' needs, Sodexho has sub-segmented the Healthcare market into long-term care facilities, primarily for seniors, and acute care facilities, providing services primarily to hospitals and outpatient clinics. In fiscal 2005, revenues in the Education market represented 25% of the Company's total Food and Management Services business revenues. This portion of Sodexho's business provides food and management services to educational institutions ranging from nursery schools to universities.
