Hyperspace Communications, Inc. is engaged in the business of providing personal computer (PC)-based products and services to mid-sized businesses, government agencies and education organizations. The Company manufactures and markets ClientPro desktop PCs, TransPort notebook PCs, NetFRAME servers and DataFRAME storage products. The Company also provides hardware-related support services, such as installation, technical support, parts replacement and recycling. It also provides third party products produced by other vendors, including printers, monitors and software. Hyperspace launched a new division called DirectCM (DCM) to provide custom manufacturing and distribution services for PC desktops, notebooks and servers to regional original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), systems integrators and value-added resellers (VARs). Initially, the services will primarily involve distribution of partially assembled computer systems supplied by original design manufacturers. In July 2005, it acquired MPC Computers, LLC (MPC), which has become its wholly owned subsidiary. Hyperspace focuses primarily on three distinct market segments: federal government, state/local government & education (SLE), and mid-size enterprise commercial. In the federal government market, the Company sells directly to government agencies and to the federal government in terms of government spending. The SLE market comprises state and local governments, as well as educational institutions, both public and private. Educational institutions encompass both elementary education from kindergarten through twelfth grade, along with secondary educational institutions, such as colleges, universities and trade, and specialty schools. The Company's mid-size enterprise consists of all private, commercial businesses in the United States, which have at least 250 employees and less than 5,000 employees. The NetFRAME family delivers a server product line, featuring both rack-mount and pedestal form factors. The product line supports industry standards and scales from affordable single-processor products to an enterprise-class, quad-processor system. The DataFRAME family of storage systems is Internet protocol (IP)-based single area networks (SANs) that combine the flexibility of SAN architecture with the low cost and ease-of-use of Ethernet. Hyperspace offers the ClientPro line of desktop systems, which provides stable and reliable solutions for customers who demand manageable and easy-to-service systems with long lifecycles. The TransPort product line addresses a range of business and organizational needs, including performance, portability and flexibility. TransPort offerings range from desktop-replacement models to compact, lightweight thin and light models. The Company also has introduced wide-screen versions of its notebooks in order to meet customer demand. Many customers desire a single point of contact for all of their information technology (IT) purchases, so the Company offers a multitude of software and peripheral products from manufacturers. Products offered include software, monitors, printers, handhelds, notebook accessories, networking and wireless products, memory, projectors and scanners. The Company offers products from manufacturers, including Cisco, EMC, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Sony, Samsung and Microsoft.
