Perdigao S.A. (Perdigao) is a holding company. The Company conducts its business through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Perdigao Agroindustrial S.A., Crossban Holdings GMBH, Perdigao International Ltd. and Perdix International Foods Comercio Internacional Lda. Perdigao is a producer of poultry, pork and processed foods. The Company's processed products include marinated, frozen, whole and cut Chester, turkey, specialty meats, frozen processed meats and frozen prepared entrees. Perdigao also sells beef products, soy products and animal feed. Perdigao sells its products both in the domestic Brazilian market and export markets around the world. In the domestic market, the Company sells its products directly to 84,700 supermarkets, retail stores, wholesalers, and food service and other institutional buyers. Perdigao exports its products to Europe, the Far East, Eurasia, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and other regions. Net sales to the Brazilian market accounted for 48.4% of the Company's net sales during year ended December 31, 2005. Net sales to export markets accounted for 55.1% of Perdigao's net sales in 2005. During 2005, the Company acquired Mary Loize Industria de Alimentos Ltda and Mary Loize Industria e Comercio de Racoes Ltda. The acquired companies were renamed as Perdigao Agroindustrial Mato Grosso Ltda and Perdigao Mato Grosso Racoes Ltda., respectively. In 2005, Perdigao also acquired Incubatorio Para?so Ltda. Poultry Perdigao produces frozen whole and cut chickens, partridges and quail. The Company sold 502.8 thousand tons of frozen chicken and other poultry products in 2005, most of which was sold in its export markets. Pork and Beef The Company produces frozen pork cuts, such as loins and ribs, and whole carcasses. In 2005, Perdigao sold 130.2 thousand tons of pork cuts, primarily in its export markets. In December 2005, the Company introduced beef cuts. Perdigao sold 427 tons of beef cuts in 2005. Processed Food Products Perdigao sold 636 thousand tons of processed food in 2005. The Company produces marinated and seasoned chickens, roosters (under the Chester brand) and turkeys. Perdigao processes pork, chicken and other poultry to produce specialty meats, such as sausages, ham products, bologna, frankfurters, salamis and bacon. The Company produces a range of frozen processed poultry, beef and pork products, including hamburgers, breaded meats, kibes (a type of Middle Eastern beef patty), meatballs and steaks. Perdigao produces frozen processed poultry products, such as breaded and cooked chicken patties, and chicken hamburgers. The Company produces a range of frozen prepared entrees, some of which contain poultry, beef and pork meat that it produces. Perdigao produces several varieties of lasagna and pizza. The Company sells a variety of frozen vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, peas, French beans, French fries and cassava fries. Perdigao produces cheese bread, a Brazilian bread infused with cheese. The Company produces a variety of pies and pastries, such as chicken and heart-of-palm pies and lime pies. Perdigao commenced sales of margarine in December 2005. The Company sells margarine under two brand names (Turma da Monica and Borella). Perdigao produces soy-based vegetarian products, such as hamburgers and breaded products. Other Perdigao produces a limited range of soy-based products, including soy meal and refined soy flour. The Company also produced soybean oil until July 2005, when it sold its soybean oil plant in Marau in the State of Rio Grande do Sul to Bunge Alimentos. Perdigao produce animal feed principally to feed poultry and hogs raised by it. The Company sells less than 1% of the animal feed produced by it to unaffiliated customers. The Company competes with Sadia S.A., Cooperativa Aurora-Cooperativa Central Oeste Catarinense Ltda and Seara Alimentos S.A.
