Conversion Technologies International, Inc. is engaged in the business of manufacturing and processing various substrates and advanced materials that visually and texturally enhance structural materials. These substrates and advanced materials include decorative particles (exposed aggregates) and performance aggregates. On April 11, 2001, the Company filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7 of the Federal Bankruptcy Statutes. The filing is for the Company and its two wholly owned subsidiaries: Dunkirk International Glass & Ceramics Corp. and Advanced Particles Technologies, Inc. Decorative Particles The Company's St. Augustine facility color coats various glass substrates to produce decorative particles. Decorative particles are widely used in the construction industry to visually enhance structural materials such as plasters, tiles, grouts, wall systems and roofing and flooring. Decorative particles are also incorporated into countertops and cabinetry. Conversion's decorative particles include CeramaGlass and CeramaQuartz. Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (3M) competes with the Company in the market for decorative particles. Performance Aggregates AlumaGlass and the Company's other glass and ceramic products, individually or in blended combinations, can also be used as structural or textural enhancers, fillers and additives. These products, which can be sized according to industry standards, can be used to strengthen and add consistency to materials such as cements, plasters, grouts, mortars, roofing and flooring and other glass and ceramic materials. The Company's performance aggregates face competition from producers of mined minerals, aluminum oxide and other abrasives, which include 3M and Norton/St. Gobain. The Company has a limited number of customers for all its products. During fiscal 2000, 78.8% of Conversion's revenues were derived from three major customers. Revenue generated from each of these customers represented 44.6%, 20.1% and 14.1% of total revenue, respectively. Conversion's main purchaser of decorative particles, Southern Grouts and Mortars Inc., accounted for 44.6% of its total revenue.
