BOEHLER-UDDEHOLM AG is an international specialty steel and materials company with a focus on four divisions: High Performance Metals, Welding Consumables, Precision Strip and Special Forgings. It has production sites in Austria, Sweden, Brazil, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, the United States and Mexico, and heat treatment operations worldwide. The Company's products and services sold in around 100 countries on all continents, and it has wholly owned sales subsidiaries in nearly 50 markets. It has approximately 100,000 customers throughout the world. BOEHLER-UDDEHOLM's key customers include the automotive and automotive supplier industries, tool and machine tool manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, consumer goods and electronics industries, wood and saw industry, textile and paper industries, steel and apparatus construction, power station and plant construction. The Company's primary sales markets are Europe, America and Asia. High Performance Metals The most important segment in the High Performance Metals division is tool steel (cold and hot work steels, as well as plastic molding steels). The second largest segment is high-speed steel. Other major products include special grades and nickel-based alloys, as well as high-alloy sheets, wire and profiles. Key customers for the High Performance Metals Division in Europe, Asia and the Americas are the automotive and automotive supplier industries, tool and machine tool manufacturers, the energy industry, aircraft and aerospace industries, consumer goods and electronics industries, and medical technology firms. BOHLER UDDEHOLM finalized the acquisition of the Brazilian Villares Metals S.A. from Accs Villares S.A. in March 2004. Villares Metals is involved in the tool steel, high-speed steel and valve steel segments in Latin America. High Performance Metals is the largest division in BOHLER-UDDEHOLM, with a 72% share of total sales. The special steels and special alloys, such as nickel-based materials are manufactured by six companies: Bohler Edelstahl GmbH in Kapfenberg (Austria), Uddeholm Tooling AB in Hagfors (Sweden), Villares Metals S.A. in Sumare (Brazil), Bohler Bleche GmbH in Murzzuschlag (Austria), Bohler Ybbstal Profil GmbH in Bruckbach (Austria) and Bohler-Uddeholm Specialty Metals, Inc. in South Boston (the United States). The division also operates heat treatment facilities in a number of countries. Welding Consumables Welding Consumables Division is a specialist for the manufacture of medium and high-alloy welding materials, which are used in shipbuilding. The Welding Consumables Division is a provider of welding materials, such as sheathed electrodes, solid wire and filler wire for electrical arc welding, stick electrodes for gas welding, welding consumables for maintenance, and repair and soldering materials. The Welding Consumables Division operates manufacturing facilities in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Brazil and Mexico. It also has a network of sales subsidiaries that are responsible for the distribution of welding consumables throughout the world. With a 15.1% share of total sales, Welding Consumables is the second largest division in BOHLER-UDDEHOLM. Medium and high-alloy welding consumables generate approximately two-thirds of division sales. The Welding Consumables Division manufactures rust, heat and acid-resistant welding materials for steel construction projects, such as bridges, in many Western European and South American countries. The most important customer branches for these products are the petrochemical and chemical industries, power station and plant construction, crude oil and natural gas production (offshore), equipment construction for sugar processors, the fabrication of liquid natural gas (LNG) tanks, automobile manufacture and shipbuilding, pipeline construction, the food industry, and steel and apparatus construction.
