Dura Automotive Systems, Inc. (DURA) is a holding company that designs and manufactures driver control systems, seating control systems, glass systems, engineered assemblies, structural door modules and exterior trim systems for the global automotive, and recreation and specialty vehicle (RVSV) industries through its subsidiaries. The Company sells its products to every major North American, Asian and European automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and most RVSV OEMs. DURA also uses its products to make systems or subsystems, which are groups of component parts located throughout the vehicle that operate together to provide a specific vehicle function. During the year ended December 31, 2005, approximately 57% of the Company's revenues were generated from sales to automotive OEMs, including, General Motors, Ford, Toyota, DaimlerChrysler, Renault-Nissan, Volkswagen, PSA Group, Honda and BMW. Driver Control Systems DURA provides automotive cables in both North America and Europe. In addition, the Company provides adjustable and traditional pedal systems, electronic throttle controls, parking brake systems, hybrid electronic and traditional gearshift systems, and instrument panel beams. In the automotive cable market, DURA competes with Teleflex Incorporated (Teleflex), Ficosa International, S.A. (Ficosa), Hi-Lex Corporation (Hi-Lex), Kuester & Co. GmbH (Kuester), Sila Holding Industriale (Sila), Flex-N-Gate, Magna International Inc. (Magna), Otscon, Aisin Seiki, TRW, Siemens VDO, Grand Haven Stamped Products, Tokai Rika, Lemforder, KSR and Drivesol. Seating Control Systems Products include two, four, six and eight-way power, and manual seat adjusters. The Company's seating control systems also include second and third-row applications, complete seat structures, seat recliner assemblies, and electronic seating control modules. Glass Systems Products include urethane and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) glass encapsulated windows, integrated liftgate modules and manual and power backlite windows, one, two or three-sided glass modules. It also includes drop-door glass, and hidden hardware glass and integrated greenhouse systems. The Company's competitors in glass systems are Magna, Pilkington, PPG Inc., Guardian Industries, Inc., Hehr International, Inc., Sekurit and Pilkington. Door Systems and Modules Products include aluminum and steel body-in-white door modules. It also includes doorframes, glass run channels, guide rails, window lift systems, space frame body components, and structural beams and cross members. In this product group, DURA competes with Brose, Delphi, ArvinMeritor, Magna, Matra, Wagon, Amerimax, Phillips and Hi-Lex. Engineered Assemblies Products include spare tire carriers, jacks and tool kit assemblies; hood, tailgate, and seat latch systems, and hood, tailgate and door hinge systems. It also offers RVSV leveling and landing systems and towing hardware. The Company's competitors in the hood latches business include Magna, Aisen Seiki, Pyeong HWA, Flex-N-Gate, Bosal, Mivrag Cold Forming Technology Ltd., Edscha, Fabco, TriMas Corporation, Shelby Industries and Lippert Components, Inc. Exterior Trim Systems and RVSV Appliances Products in the exterior trim systems category include roof and waist moldings, side frame trim, A, B and C-pillar cappings, and body color trim and bright trim.
