Tomkins plc, an engineering and manufacturing company, manufactures industrial, automotive, and building products primarily in North America, Europe, and Asia. The companys Industrial and Automotive group comprises four segments: Power Transmission, Fluid Power, Sensors and Valves, and Other Industrial and Automotive. The Power Transmission segment provides rubber and polyurethane belts, and accessories; energy-saving oil pumps and carrier systems; power transmission belts; and powertrain components, systems, assemblies, and powder metal components for automotive engines and transmissions. The Fluid Power segment offers hydraulic products, couplings, transfer hoses, engine hoses, and assemblies to the industrial replacement, industrial original equipment, and automotive aftermarkets. The Sensors and Valves segment provides fluid and gas sensing and monitoring solutions, including TPMS, which allows drivers to monitor remotely their vehicles tire pressure using electronic sensors attached to the tire valves; wheel and tire valves; air conditioning valves; and inflating gauges. The Other Industrial and Automotive segment offers axles and chassis components for the utility trailer, recreational vehicle, and highway trailer markets; specialty hose clamps; and automotive parts and tools, such as lubrication, air hose, and other aftermarket accessories. Tomkins plcs Building Products group consists of two segments, Air Distribution and Bathware Products. The Air Distribution segment provides ducting, louvres, grilles, registers, diffusers, dampers, smoke vents, and chimney products to the HVAC industry. The Bathware Products segment offers bath tubs, shower enclosures, and whirlpools to retail customers, hospitals and care facilities, home centers, and wholesalers. The company was formerly known as F.H. Tomkins Buckle Company Limited and changed its name to Tomkins plc in 1988. Tomkins plc was founded in 1925 and is based in London, the United Kingdom.
