Mirae Corporation (Mirae), incorporated in December 1990, is engaged in the designing and manufacturing of mechatronics machines, including the high-precision robotic parts and software that controls robotic parts, primarily for sale to the semiconductor manufacturing and printed circuit board (PCB) assembly industries. The Company's product line consists of semiconductor test handlers and components, and surface mount device (SMD) placement systems. Mirae's core competencies are concentrated in three mechatronics disciplines: precision mechanism, intelligent control and machine vision. In addition, the Company designs software to control a variety of functions in its mechatronics products, and has developed expertise in the areas of real-time control software, motion planning software and job planning software. Mechatronics Business Mirae's mechatronics business includes semiconductor test handlers and surface mount technology (SMT) component placement systems. The Company has designed and manufactured approximately 87 test handler models. Mirae has four categories of test handlers: memory test handler, memory module test handler, logic pick-and-place test handler and burn-in loader/sorter. Memory module test handler uses a Microsoft Window NT-based graphical user interface. Logic pick-and-place test handler is a non-memory test handler. Burn-in loader/sorter is used in the reliability screening and stress testing procedure of integrated circuits (ICs) known as burn-in. The Company's customers are Hynix Semiconductor Inc. and SanDisk Corporation. During the year ended December 31, 2004, Hynix Semiconductor Inc. accounted for 31.3% and SanDisk Corporation accounted for 20.6% of handler sales. SMT placement system are robotic machines used for the high-precision, high-speed placing of a broad range of electronic components, such as resistors, capacitors and ICs, onto PCBs used in computers, telecommunications equipment, consumer electronic products, industrial equipment, medical instruments, automotive systems, military systems and aerospace systems. SMT placement equipment can be dividend into two categories: chip shooters and multi-functional systems. Chip shooters are used for the placement of small components, such as resistors and capacitors onto PCBs. Multi-functional systems can place a range of components, including ICs onto PCBs. The Company's SMT placement systems also includes a Mirae designed and manufactured vision system that permits inspection of components at high speeds. SMT placement systems are used by two types of electronic manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers, who use the equipment to assemble PCBs for use in their own systems and electronics manufacturing services, who use the equipment to assemble PCBs for customers.
