Premier Farnell plc is a global, business-to-business, small order, high-service distributor of electronic components and industrial products to the design, maintenance and engineering sectors. The Company has sales offices in 21 countries and sells to over 100 countries. Companies within the Premier Farnell Group include Farnell InOne, CPC, BuckHickman InOne, Newark InOne, MCM, Akron Brass, Kent, TPC Wire & Cable and Cadillac Electric. Premier Farnell serves a customer base of more than two million customer contacts worldwide. In addition, it stocks in excess of 400,000 items, has access to four million more and represents 3,000 manufacturer brands. The Company operates in two segments: the Marketing and Distribution Division and the Industrial Products Division. On June 20, 2005, Premier Farnell acquired Weldon Technologies Inc. (Weldon), a United States-based company that produces lighting devices and electrical control solutions for specialty vehicle markets. On June 28, 2005, the Company acquired the business and assets of R&R Instrumentation (R&R), a United States-based distributor and calibrator of test equipment and panel instruments. Marketing and Distribution Division The Marketing and Distribution Division includes five closely related businesses serving the small order and highly mixed product and service requirements of electronic design engineers, small-scale production units, procurement specialists and maintenance engineers in industry and the public sector. Farnell InOne markets and distributes electronic components, test equipment, maintenance and repair products in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. The business also provides procurement services and technical support tailored to individual customer needs. Newark InOne is a marketer and distributor of electronic components through call centers, via the Web, and through a network of sales offices across the United States and in Canada, Mexico and Brazil. BuckHickman InOne is a United Kingdom marketer and distributor of tools, consumables and health and safety equipment typically needed in industrial working environments. It is also a specialist in supply chain management and vendor managed inventory. MCM is a North American distributor of electronic equipment and related products to engineers, who install and repair consumer electronics and similar equipment. CPC is a distributor of electrical and electronic equipment, components and accessories to smaller companies across the United Kingdom. It is a specialist in the promotion of new products and special offers through direct mail and via the Web. Industrial Products Division Industrial Products Division comprises a group of businesses that supply high-performance products to specialist industrial markets in Europe and North America. Akron Brass is a manufacturer and distributor of high-performance, fire-fighting equipment for fire truck manufacturers, public fire services and industrial facilities. Kent is a pan-European distributor of high-performance, own-brand consumables (including tools, adhesives and chemicals) for the automotive servicing and crash-repair markets. TPC Wire & Cable is a distributor of high-performance electrical cable and connector assemblies for use in hostile or heavy-duty industrial environments. Customers include the steel and automotive industries in North America. Cadillac Electric is a distributor of electrical and industrial automation products and engineered solutions to manufacturers in the United States.
