The company was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. On November 10, 2008, Accentia Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. along with its affiliates filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa.
